0 For 1

Got my first grad school rejection tonight. I expected a few, so it's not a surprise or anything. I'm fully aware and accepting of the fact that I may not get in anywhere at all.

It's just a little upsetting that the rejection came from Berkeley, seeing as the rejection came less than a week after my trip to San Francisco. Berkeley is, you know, right across the bay from San Francisco. It's on the same public transit system. After my trip I went and thought "hey, you know, I like this town a whole lot. I think I'd really like it if I got into Berkeley. I'd be very happy spending a few years here."

That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call "tempting fate." Also "irony."

Well, back to not thinking about it and more waiting.

Marc:

We should make like the terrorists of France and threaten to blow up the railway infrastructure!

Bummer on not getting in.

Jon:

It's just one rejection, dear. Give it time and I'm sure the acceptances will start coming in soon enough. And, besides, why would you want to go somewhere where you'd be stuck in traffic from the parade of newlyweds coming out of city hall? ;)

Jason:

Marc... eww! Suggesting I immitate the French? Just eww.

Why would I want to live in a state where the governor ("The Governator") borrows 19 billion dollars in order to get the state out of debt, Jon? Nice atmosphere, I guess.

gus:

well at least you wont have to worry about going there once all of your other approved applications show up on your door.

look on the bright side

Gus

Jon:

Isn't that what's going on on the federal level too to most extents?

Jason:

It is, Jon, and it doesn't make much more sense there. In high school I had a friend who, during a discussion about revolving credit, quipped "people can't use one credit card to pay off another! What if everyone did that? What if countries did that? Oh..."
