I generally don't like to comment on things found by other bloggers, whether they do full posts on them or just link to them, but sometimes someone comes across something that effects me pretty deeply and I just feel the need to put it up.
Enter Michael Paulus' gallery of Skeletal Systems. In his own words he's taken several characters from animated children's shows and drawn their skeletal systems as if they "truly had eye sockets half the size of its head, or fingerless-hands, or feet comprising 60% of its body mass."
I think the creepiest skeleton, just for the sake of the skeleton itself, is Dexter. If I came across that whilst flipping through an old book somewhere, I would read the text around it just to discover from whence this horrid troglodite came.
I'm fairly disturbed by the three Powerpuff Girls, too, but the picture that gets me the worst, that disturbs me on the most visceral level is this drawing of Charlie Brown. I think that's the one that's most identifiable as who it is, without the transparency overlay. It seems like the product of a dark and perverted Charles Schulz. This is the sort of thing that haunts my dreams.
I wrote to the artist to ask if these are for sale.
