It's a little bit of old news, but even still, I think it's tremendously cool that a National Guardsman has changed his name to Optimus Prime. And he has a blog.
Quite naturally, he's in Iraq right now. Because rebellious insurgents are doubtless aided by Decepticons.
It's only natural that, within a few years, men and women start naming their kids after the things that affected them in their youth. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a surfeit of Dukes, Flints, Strawberries, Links, Marios, Peaches and so on in the next few years.
But when I hear about the first human being named (God help me) Pikachu, I'm going to be very, very disturbed.

That's vaguely disturbing. I guess it could be worse, though. Naming your kid "Skeletor" or "Serpentor" or "Sauron" or something.
My favorite was the set Ogre came up with, a few years back. He was hoping to have three daughters and name them Guenivere, Juliet and Ophelia. Three great names, no argument, until you realize that each of them is a tragic lover who dies with a broken heart.
