Somebody Check The Math

Math frightens me. It always has. This is a good example why.

Of course, I guess you could build an equation to prove just about anything. Right?

Right?

he he ive seen some equations which i'll refrain from reproducing here as to not offend the referred parts

Ogre:

If any of what were actually mathematical it might worry me, but as it stands, dream equations count for nothing.

Stupid computer, sorry for the double-post. Triple post. Agh, I'll have to come in and start again.

Jason:

If I could give people the option of editing their posts, I would, and thereby spare you the madness of the tripple post. Sadly, it's not within my power to do.

Anywho, I remember hearing somewhere that some historically famous mathematician came up with a proof of something or other in a dream. Which doesn't rule out dreams altogether - products of the unconscious mind and all.

But it's comforting that there's no particular reason is the way it is - the arrangement of terms seems arbitrary. How nice.

Ogre:

You can dream about real things and have epiphanies during dreams/hallucinations, hence peyote and dancing til your mind stops working right. But just because you write it as an equation, doesn't make it so. Besides, who is to say the relationships are purely linear anyway? And you will easily note that it is quite possible to get probabilities of more than 100%. Also, wouldn't the chance of dumb luck increase as stupidity increases as well? I'm going to stop now, I could do this for far too long.

Jason:

No, no, it's all good. You're right on every level. I knew there was something a little fishy about the way it played out in the equation, but my extraordinarily non-math brain couldn't figure it out. Hence my call for help. Thanks!
