Conventioneer

Apparently NorWesCon is happening this coming weekend. It's "the Northwest's Largest Annual Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention" (according to their website; I thought it was second-largest, but what do I know?). It's the place what they give out the Philip K. Dick Award (I confess, I've not heard of any of this year's nominees). So now I'm trying to decide if I should go.

In the "pro" category, it looks like there's going to be a ton of interesting panels and lectures. It'll also be a good chance to just be at an SF/F con, which is something people (like, say, Jim) keep telling me I should be doing. Plus I'll get a chance to say hi to Claire, one of the nice folks I met when I was at Tor.

In the "con" category, none of my editorial friends (the afore-mentioned Jim, Anna, Teresa) will be there and it's a weekend away from productivity. Also, and I know I've mentioned this before, I fucking hate going out places like this by myself.

This will require careful consideration.

Lukas:

I'd go with you, but all the stuff we talked about in regards to Sakuracon last night apply to this one as well. Stupid abnormal work week.

Erik:

Who would admit to winning a Dick Award?

Erik:

Then again, upon further consideration...

Mike:

I would go with ya... but I hate archeologists.

Jason:

Lukas - I hear ya, man. But no worries: some other con, some other time.

Erik - Exactly.

Mike - Then you'll really hate the fact that The Dreaming didn't have those issues of Nightwing you wanted. Sorry.
