The Great Curse placed on all gamers by the Primordials as they drew their dying breaths, which causes us to react to new games like crows react to shinys, purchasing them and hoarding them with our very lives, even if they will never, ever see the light of day again.

My answer of "shiny subliminal mind control built into the metallic cover" just doesn't seem to compare to Lukas'.

I'm most inclined to agree with Lukas here, if only because everyone knows it's only the Exalted books that White Wolf laces with crack.
(speaking of, I got the Book of Bone and Ebony, too, and it is indeed necrotically delicious.)

Impulse buy you had the money they had the book now they have your money and you have a book.
Not really sure about the new books from white wolf to me it seems as if they were trying to sell me an old book with a new cover.

No, definitely not an impulse buy. I actually asked the comic shop to hold a copy for me...
And I've got to admit, so far, so good. I think they made a bunch of changes that really reigned Werewolf in and set it off in the right direction again. They took out a lot of stuff that I always saw as pretty... well, goofy, about the old Werewolf and made the prospect of shape-changing a little less natural, which I think it also good. Plus it's divorced from the lame-ass version of Native American tribalism. I don't expect I ever will play it, just due to opportunity, but it's a game I'd be much more happy to play.
Actually, I sort of feel that way about the core book, too. It's a really solid "mortal investigators of the supernatural" book, without the focuses on sanity (or lack thereof) that, say, Call of Cthulhu or Unknown Armies have. Vampire is, to me, sort of a trade-off; I never much liked the idea of playing a blood-sucking undead to begin with, so while the new version of the game is much more playable in my mind in terms of set up, I'm not much more likely to play it, just because of theme.
The real test, for me, will be Mage. Can they do a game that captures a lot of the same awesomeness of my favorite game EVER, but fixes on all its flaws and makes it different enough to be worth buying on its own? I'll find out in August, I guess...

I know, this doesn't relate to what the other coments were, but I'll go ahead and say it.
Life is about status, and especially in the 21st century.
It's also possible that you may meet someone one day, who'll want to play this game you have And you can make a party out of it. a couple of brewskies, and who knows

Not a thing against D&D here, Gus. Best campaign I ever played in used 2nd ed D&D as the system.
Anonymous - not sure how status plays a part, but that's cool. It's all good.
