I did this funny thing last night: I didn't sleep. Now I loves me some sleep, so you may be wondering at the reason for this deprivation. Was there, perhaps, a monster under my bed keeping me awake? Was there a demon peering through my window with its single, bloodshot eye? Or was there maybe something pleasant going on instead, the sort of pleasant that you put some pimp music on the stereo for?
None of the above. I decided to stay up all night to get my sleep schedule thingie back on track. I figure I'll stay awake all day, too, crash at midnight and wake up tomorrow at a nice normal hour. Like, say, nine.
Now, there's the possiblity that I'll be too tired and sleep until about eleven to make up for it. But, honestly? That would still be better than I've been doing lately. The two days before this one I woke up at two in the afternoon. That's just wrong.
That's also the other reason I stayed up. My second paper is due today at noon. Given the trouble I've been having waking up before that hour, I really didn't want to risk oversleeping and missing the deadline.
So far I'm doing pretty good. Not even tired. Part of me wonders if I can do the same thing with sleep as I can with food, where I just don't have any for a day or two and it doesn't much bother me.
Another part of me is laughing and waiting to see me struggle to stay awake at three this afternoon...

For a massive technology whore like yourself, it amazes me to no end your inability/refusal to use an alarm clock. Wake up on time just ONE day, you will be tired enough at night to sleep and it will even out. ...freak.

But I DO use an alarm clock. It just doesn't actually wake me up. Or at least it doesn't keep me awake. Most of the time, I'm not actually cognizant of having shut it off...

*ponders* just buy one of those alarm clocks that have a radio integrated.
put it on a music station you hate and so when it's time to get up you'll feel motivated to do so.
oh and dont put the alarm clock at arm's reach, force yourself to get up to turn it off.

Done, done and done.
I mean, seriously, the only thing I haven't set my alarm to do is apply electroshock. When it goes off in the morning, it goes off at maximum volume in Korean and it's all the way across the room. I literally get out of my bed, walk across my bedroom, shut the alarm off, walk back across my bedroom, crawl back into bed and go back to sleep without necessarily being aware that I've done it.

The sound of Wayne Mahar talking about low pressure fronts always used to wake me up. God damn him and his weather cat.

I forgot about ol' Wayne. And the cat.
What Jason really needs is someone to throw things at him when he doesn't wake up.
Heavy things.

I think the problem is that you're so familiar with the operation of your alarm clock that you can turn it off without really thinking about it. Buy a couple other clock designs and rotate them periodically, so you actually have to be awake to figure out how to shut them off. Or, build a box around your current clock with a combination lock. You can't turn off the clock until you open the box. It'll be like trying to remember your locker combination while someone is shouting at you in Korean!
That should wake you up.
Or you could go with Bekah's idea.
