Some random things that have crossed my desktop today:

First is 365 Tomorrows, a year-log of speculative flash fiction; it started yesterday. A good project, I think, and I like the site design. I haven't had time to read the stories yet, though.

Meanwhile, Websnark's Eric Burns discusses the more frustrating end of creativity. He goes on a little long, but it's a good essay. He's at his best when he says "More than knowing the evil that lurks in the hearts of men... the Shadow sees the faces we wear when we think no one can see us. He sees who we are with someone we like, when we're feeling unguarded. He knows our hidden face."

Finally, a quote from Pliny the Elder that's been floating through my head the past few days: "Hope is the pillar that holds up the world. Hope is the dream of a waking man." Pliny the Elder said a lot of smart things. Not at all like that Pliny the Younger; he was a real dumbass.
