Dis-em-Vowelled

I just found out that Sarah Vowell does a weekly Op Ed piece in the New York Times on Sundays. Immediately subsequent to this discovery I discovered that I can only read the piece by subscribing to TimesSelect. Or by, you know, actually buying the print copy of the Times on Sundays.

I dunno. I don't really feel right paying money just to get 800 words a week.

Maybe they'll collect these columns into a book one day.

Doug:

You could always go to the library. It's kind of a pain in the ass though.

BTW, Meg and I are in the process of buying a condo, so hopefully we will be moving soon.

gus:

So who's Sarah Vowell?

Jason:

Dug - cool! Good luck! Also, genius idea on the library; there's several campus-related ones right nearby. I'll have to check and see if they carry the Sunday Times.

Gus - Most people around here who know her (myself included, honestly) mostly know her as the voice of Violet on The Incredibles. What she does with most of her time, though, is be a radio commentator/journalista on NPR (National Public Radio). I think on This American Life, much like my man John Hodgeman.

eef:

That is just so wrong.

In the hopes that anybody reads this, Vowel got her start on an NPR show This American Life. Pretty much the whole run of TAL is archived on the web. Somewhere.

Jason:

Hhm. Bad! Bad comment spammer! Bannination for you!

Ed - So right about TAL. Such a good show, overall, though I have to admit they could use a "best of" archive or something...
